Interior Design, Volume 77 Number 2, February 2006

This house was partially constructed when purchased by clients. Only the footprint of the original foundation remained from this extensive “remodel” project.

Designed with views in mind on a tranquil wooded site within the exclusive Pebble Beach Resort community, we developed a two-story vacation house with materials sourced with quality and longevity in mind. The original footprint allowed us to wrap the house around a central courtyard and develop decks or open areas adjacent to all interior rooms for an indoor/outdoor lifestyle.

At 6,800 square feet, this 5 bedroom, 4 baths second home was made to connect to its setting with the colors of the earth, sea, and sky. Materials included site and accent walls clad with antique Yangtze River limestone, teak ceilings, custom made mahogany windows, plaster walls (the client did not want any gypsum board in the house) and fine trowel stucco.
