Monterey Regional Airport (MRY) relocated its Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) facility from the South Terminal Ramp to a new site at the North East General Aviation Ramp of the airfield to allow for future expansion of the airport’s main terminal building.
The 10,000 sf facility includes 4 apparatus bays, living quarters that have “hotel style” dorm rooms with en-suite bathrooms, combined kitchen-dining-day room, watch room, exercise room, offices and apparatus bay support areas. The project was designed utilizing a pre-engineered building with custom interiors. The form of the building is similar to many of the agricultural buildings found in the surrounding area. The project will be LEED Silver Certified.
Fire Services are currently provided by Monterey Fire Department.
